Shaykh Abdur Rauf Shakir

Abu Muhammad Abdur Ra’uf Shakir was born and raised in New York City. He embraced the religion of Islam in 1975. After completing his Arabic Studies in Madeenah, Saudi Arabia in 1991 he went on to obtain his B.A degree from the College of Hadeeth and Islamic Studies at the University of Madeenah in 1995.

He has participated in the translation (from Arabic to English) and editing of a number of valuable essays and Fataawaa of contemporary Muslim scholars, including that of the three Imaams of the People of Sunnah of this era; Shaykh Abdul-‘Azeez Ibn Baaz, Shaykh Muhammad Naasiruddeen Al-Albaanee, and Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-‘Uthaimeen.

For many years Shaykh Abdur Ra’uf has worked in the field of da’wah to teach new Muslims. This has included the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in Qatar, and more recently with the Shaykh Eid Bin Muhammad al-Thani Charity Association
